Happy Birthday America

As the fourth of July approaches, I can't help but think about our freedom and all of the men and woman who have fought and continue to fight for it today.  Especially my hubby!

July is a very important month.  Not only do we celebrate our freedom but also the birth of our son Liam.  I can't believe that his first birthday is almost here.  People always say that once you have children times really starts to fly by.  Boy are they right!

I am so excited to have planned my first of many many birthday parties AND my momma is coming to town to help celebrate. Here's just a little teaser of my little frog prince's party.

Lifes a Journey

It was the weirdest thing.  As I showered this morning I had this exciting feeling that I wanted to start blogging.  All of these thoughts just came rushing to my head and I wrote them all down.  They were all things that I wanted to talk about.  So here I am.

So, me and five fabulous ladies just finished a Bible study on Desire.  It really opened my eyes to what desire is and the things in life I do desire.  As we finished the last chapter the author, John Eldridge, challenged us to start a journal.  This is my journal. John talked about a section in the back of his journal that he called, "This New Day".  In that section he writes down central truths that he continually goes back to in order to remind himself of his desires.  One of my greatest desires is to live the way God wants me to live and to always lean on God and trust that His will be done. This reminded me of a declaration I signed back on March 19, 2011.  I encourage you to write this declaration somewhere that you will see it often. I put mine in the front of my Bible. Sign and date it. (This declaration was an idea from one of my favorite pastors, Dr. James MacDonald).

My Declaration

I'm done resisting God.
I'm not going to resist Him anymore.
I'm not going to run from Him.
I'm not going to turn to my own way of thinking, rationalizing, or manipulating the circumstances.
I'm going to embrace this situation as from the hand of a sovereign and loving God.
I am going to trust that He knows what He is doing...in my life, in the lives of those I love, and in the World.

Life is a journey, an exciting one.  I think that this declaration plays a huge part in having that life I truly desire.
